We had tested many ultralight towels that took up very little space, but they all shared a common problem: they barely absorbed water, and the feel when drying was far from that of a good terry towel.

Our goal wasn't to make the lightest towel on the market. We wanted to create a towel that would truly replace your terry towel when you're traveling, going to the beach, or taking a short break.

That's why we developed a towel that combines a 500 g/m² waffle weave with a lightweight and compact design, offering excellent absorbency, quick drying, and a pleasant feel, all while taking up much less space than a conventional towel.

In short, we designed a towel for those who want to enjoy the beach without lugging around a huge towel.

This means that, thanks to the waffle weave structure, sand comes off much more easily than on a conventional towel.

In most cases, simply shaking the towel before storing it is enough to remove the accumulated sand.

That's why we ruled out overly thin fabrics and opted for a weight of 500 g/m².

It was exactly the balance we were aiming for from day one.

No, we never intended them to be.

We could have reduced the weight even further by using a thinner fabric.

However, that would have meant sacrificing some of the absorbency, comfort, and quality feel we wanted to offer.

We believe a good travel towel shouldn't just be lightweight. It should dry well and feel pleasant to the touch.

That's why we prefer to find the balance rather than chase a specific number.

The weight was one of the most important decisions during the development of our towels.

We tested different options because we were very clear that we didn't want to make an extremely lightweight towel at the expense of comfort.

Too low a weight allows you to reduce weight, but it usually also decreases absorbency and makes the drying experience less than what we all expect from a good towel.

After many tests, we found the balance at 500 grams per square meter.

This weight allows us to offer a lightweight and compact towel for travel, but at the same time, one that is absorbent, soft to the touch, and comfortable enough to enjoy a full day at the beach or pool.

We prefer to sacrifice a few grams rather than compromise the user experience.

During development, we analyzed different weave structures.

We ultimately opted for waffle weave because it perfectly matched the characteristics we were looking for.

Its embossed texture promotes air circulation between the fibers, improves absorption capacity, accelerates drying, and helps sand come off more easily.

For us, it wasn't an aesthetic choice. It was a functional decision. We wanted a fabric that would enhance the user experience in every way.

Our towels are made from 85% recycled polyester and 15% polyester, a combination that allowed us to achieve exactly the performance we were looking for.

Recycled polyester reduces the need for virgin raw materials and is part of our commitment to making a more responsible product.

Furthermore, our towels are GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified, which verifies the product's recycled content and guarantees compliance with environmental and social criteria throughout the production chain.

We believe that making a better product also means paying attention to how it's made.

We wanted a comfortable towel. It's that simple.

Many compact towels reduce their size to save space, but that also limits comfort when you're lying on the beach.

We chose dimensions of 90 x 160 cm because they offer a large surface area without making the towel cumbersome to carry.

We believe it's the perfect balance between space, comfort, and ease of packing in any backpack or suitcase.

Many. Behind each towel there are months of development and dozens of discarded samples. We test different compositions to achieve a pleasant touch by incorporating recycled polyester. We tested different fabric structures until we found the waffle that best balanced absorption, drying and lightness. We also carried out printing tests looking for bright colors that would resist use, washing, sun and sea salt.

Each decision had the same objective: to make a UNIQUE towel.

After many summers lugging around enormous towels and trying countless alternatives that never quite convinced us, we decided to make our own. We didn't want to reinvent the beach towel; we wanted a lightweight, sand-resistant towel that actually dried you off. That idea was the starting point for AKKUA and continues to guide every decision we make.

Because it is a beach towel that will truly improve the experience of those who enjoy the beach, travel and getaways.

During its development we tested different compositions, weights, fabric structures and finishes until we found the balance we were looking for. We discarded dozens of samples. Some were lighter but didn't absorb well, others were drying but weren't pleasant enough to the touch... We didn't want to make concessions. We wanted a towel that you could easily carry in your backpack without giving up any of the comforts of a good beach towel.

The result is a towel made of 500 g/m² waffle weave, made with 85% recycled polyester and certified under the GRS standard, which combines lightness, high absorbency, quick drying and an anti-sand effect in a compact and easy to transport format.
